Britney Spears: She doesn't want her father back as a guardian

What's next for Britney Spears' guardianship? A motion is now to prevent father Jamie from taking back care.

Pop star Britney Spears (38, "Baby One More Time") takes legal action against her father as a new guardian. As the "People" magazine reports, Spears filed an application in court on Tuesday with which she wants to prevent her father Jamie Spears (68) from taking over her guardianship again. She is "decidedly against", it is said in the document. About a year ago, he initially voluntarily resigned from this position after about a decade and handed it over to professional guardianship expert Jodi Montgomery.

Montgomery should, in Spears's opinion, continue to play this role, handling both her finances and other affairs for her. Spears would like her to take over the guardianship permanently. But: The administrator should no longer take on the task alone in the future, but rather get a specialized company trustee at her side. This is due to the changed lifestyle of Spears, who has been able to massively boost her career in recent years.

Her father Jamie withdrew

In addition, Spears does not want to be deprived of the right to legally attack the dissolution of the ordered guardianship in the future. Since 2008, Spears has ceased to be in charge of her own affairs. Initially, her lawyer Andrew Wallet and her father took on the responsible job after her emotional breakdown. Last year, Wallet and later Jamie resigned from this position. The latter for "personal, health reasons".

In addition to administrative and financial matters, the tasks of guardianship also include ensuring medical care for the persons concerned. Montgomery currently has access to all medical documents and is also allowed to communicate directly with the doctors. Most recently, Spears' guardianship was extended to August 22nd in May. A court in California will now decide how it goes in the future.
