Ex-employees of Britney Spears have unpacked in a new documentary. They describe how the pop star was monitored under guardianship.

“The New York Times Presents: Controlling Britney Spears” is the name of a new documentary about the pop star that was now on the US broadcaster FX and streaming service Hulu. In it told the “Hollywood Reporter” according to People close to the singer, how she was treated under the tutelage.

The film is the sequel to “Framing Britney Spears”. The documentary appeared at the beginning of the year. A lot has happened in the meantime. Spears, who is fighting to end her guardianship, said in court in June how much she is suffering. The 39-year-old, who was connected to the hearing via video, read from a prepared statement to give an insight into her life under guardianship. In it, she stated, among other things, that her medication was changed without her consent, that she was forced to perform and was not given permission to see a doctor to have the IUD removed.

Security medication?

In Controlling Britney Spears, former Britney Spears employees stated that they were forbidden to speak about guardianship. An ex-employee of the security team now claimed, among other things, that one of the tasks of the security was to deliver Spears her medication. The singer supposedly had to take this under supervision. “It really reminded me of someone who was in jail. Security was empowered to be essentially the jailer.”

Messages, calls, notes, photos and browser history from Britney Spears’ smartphone are said to have been checked. The former security officer also alleged that a recorder had been placed in Spears’ bedroom.

Spears had stated in court that she had to go to a mental health facility against her will in 2019. This should also have been confirmed in the new documentation. In addition, “Controlling Britney Spears” reveals that men who played a role in the life of the pop star had been checked and had to sign confidentiality agreements. Two close confidants of the 39-year-olds, who were on tour with her, also stated in the documentary that they had been pushed out of the singer’s immediate environment.

Guardianship over soon?

Spears’ father Jamie Spears (69) has been managing the singer’s finances since 2008. Above all, she is now fighting against his influence. According to US media reports, Jamie Spears filed an application with a court in Los Angeles in early September. In it he speaks out in favor of ending guardianship. In the document, Spears stated that his daughter’s circumstances “have changed to such an extent that there may no longer be grounds for maintaining guardianship.”
