Father Jamie remains Britney Spears’ guardian following a court ruling. What does her mother Lynne say about the controversial guardianship?

A few days ago it became known that a judge has apparently rejected the application by US singer Britney Spears (39) to depose her father Jamie Spears (68) as guardian. In a report by the “New Yorker” it is now clear what the singer’s mother thinks of the controversial guardianship: Lynne Spears (66) told reporters for the magazine in June that she had “mixed feelings” about the case.

“I don’t know what to think. There is a lot of pain and a lot of worry involved,” she said. A little dry, she is said to have added: “I’m fine, I’m good when it comes to distraction.” Lynne Spears didn’t want to share any details with the reporters on the phone. She reportedly spoke in a whisper, explaining that she might have to hang up abruptly if another family member came in.

Mother is said to have “some concerns”

After a mental breakdown, Britney Spears’ father was appointed as her guardian by a court in 2008. Since then, he has made decisions about her life and finances. Since 2014, the singer and mother of two has been trying to break free from her father’s guardianship.

The US magazine “People” reports that Lynne Spears allegedly helped her daughter fight guardianship more and more after Britney Spears asked her to do so. Last November, she allegedly supported her daughter’s first application and had the judge informed through a lawyer that there was a “toxic” relationship between her daughter and father. “Lynne has some guardianship concerns, she feels that Jamie has not been righteous with her and that she is helping Britney where she can,” a family source told People magazine.

Jamie Spears remains the guardian

Britney Spears had stated in court on June 23 that the guardianship was “abuse” and that it should be ended without further medical opinion. Among other things, she said that she was forced to work against her will and that guardianship prevented her from having another child.

Spears’ attorney demanded in November that the private asset management firm Bessemer Trust be set up as “sole guardian”. However, the application was recently denied. A legal document read: “The trustee’s motion to suspend James P. Spears immediately upon the appointment of Bessemer Trust as sole trustee of the property is denied without prejudice.” According to a media report, the Bessemer Trust has since asked the court to withdraw from the Spears case.
