Some of Britney Spears' fans blame Justin Timberlake for her poor image. She sees it differently herself.

After Britney Spears (39, "Toxic") and Justin Timberlake (40, "Mirrors") split up in 2002, a culprit was quickly found. In the eyes of the public, the singer seemed to have brought about the end of the relationship – allegedly even through infidelity, claimed the rumor mill. Timberlake fueled this with his music video for "Cry Me a River," in which a woman who is astonishingly like Spears cheats on him.

After the documentary "Framing Britney Spears" was shown in the USA on Friday evening (February 5th), some fans of the singer are loudly demanding a belated apology from Timberlake. As the magazine "Us Weekly" claims, Spears is not mad at her ex from back then.

"She would never want her fans to let the dogs loose on Justin"

"Britney holds no grudge against Justin for something he said or did," a source said. The singer argues that she and the ex-NSYNC star were "young and in love" and "both did stupid things" when they were together. "Her heart was broken when they broke up, but she's not worried about that now. She's happy and happy for him."

As the magazine continues, the 39-year-old has "experienced a lot of hatred over the years, especially on social media. She would never want her fans to let the dogs loose on Justin." Regardless of "what happened in the past," "hate" is simply not the solution.

Justin Timberlake spoke openly about relationship with Britney Spears

The FX / Hulu documentary "Framing Britney Spears" focuses mainly on the guardianship that the American has been under since her mental breakdown in 2007, as well as the "#FreeBritney" movement, with which her fans want to free her from it. However, Timberlake's behavior after the breakup is also discussed as a side note. The "Say Something" performer allegedly fed rumors that Spears had betrayed him. He also spoke openly in interviews about intimate details from the relationship with the singer.

The two pop superstars were in a relationship for four years and separated in 2002. The couple got to know each other in the mid-1990s as part of the cast of "The All-New Mickey Mouse Club", or "MMC" for short. At that time Christina Aguilera (40, "Fighter") was also seen on the TV show. Timberlake has now been married to actress Jessica Biel (38) for nine years. They have two sons together. Spears has been in a relationship with personal trainer Sam Asghari (27) for some time. She also has two sons with ex-husband Kevin Federline (42).
