In response to Justin Timberlake’s new single “Selfish,” fans have brought Britney Spears’ song of the same name up the charts.
Britney Spears’ (42) fans aren’t done with it yet Justin Timberlake (42). Thanks to them, his newly released single is currently facing competition from an old song by the pop princess.
Timberlake made his first announcement in six years on his social media channels almost a week ago new music announced. The harbinger of the new album “Everything I Thought It Was” is the single “Selfish”, which was released on January 25th.
Now, however, he has competition from his ex: The fan account “Britney Stan” posted on “X” on January 22nd In response to Timberlake’s music announcement, the fake news spread: “Britney Spears will release her new single ‘Selfish’ this Thursday, January 25th.” With success: Spears’ “Selfish” has now made it into the US top ten on iTunes, as “Entertainment Weekly” reports. However, the song is anything but new, it is 13 years old. It had already appeared on the deluxe version of “Femme Fatale” in 2011.
Fan account: “I still can’t believe this got this big”
Another fan account called “BritneyxYtube” told Entertainment Weekly that the campaign started as a joke. “Then we all joined in, saying Britney Spears was coming back with a brand new song. I still can’t believe it got so big and that’s what came out of it.”
Some Spears fans may have been bitterly disappointed with the fan accounts: Spears had recently announced on Instagram that she had no plans for a comeback and never wanted to return to the music industry.

Since Britney’s autobiography “The Woman in Me” was published in October last year, Timberlake has been subjected to the hatred of the Britney ultras. In the book, she had revealed that Timberlake cheated on her during their three-year relationship. He is also said to have impregnated her and then persuaded her to have an abortion because he did not want to become a father yet.
The shitstorm got so big that Timberlake had to temporarily deactivate his Instagram account because of the many hate comments. Whereupon the Britney fans moved on to the account of his wife Jessica Biel (41).
