The “Boss” gets his own holiday in New Jersey

Bruce Springsteen is getting his own day of honor in New Jersey. Bruce Springsteen Day is celebrated on September 23rd.
New Jersey honors one of its most famous sons. Starting this year, “Bruce Springsteen Day” will be celebrated on September 23. This was announced by Phil Murphy (65), Governor of the US state, at the weekend. The announcement of the future commemoration day took place within the framework of the American Music Honors held, an event at Monmouth University’s Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music. September 23rd is Springsteen’s (73) birthday.
“Bruce Springsteen is one of the most famous and influential musicians – and New Jerseyers – of all time,” said Phil Murphy. “It’s important that we recognize Bruce for all that he has done and will continue to do,” the Democrat said. “From giving us his music to give us his time to do things close to his heart, including creating an archive that will inspire the songwriters and singers of tomorrow.”
Springsteen misses gala due to corona infection
However, Bruce Springsteen was unable to attend the gala in the museum he had donated. The “boss” and his wife Patti Scialfa (69) had recently tested positive for the corona virus. The day before they had played a concert with their E Street Band.
“You’re alive. Don’t overreact,” said moderator Jon Stewart (60) to the disappointed audience. “They sit at home by the fire and eat French onion soup”. Bruce Springsteen was at least present in the form of video recordings. The rock star honored singer Darlene Love (81) and his bandmate Steven Van Zandt (72). Both were recognized with the Springsteen-initiated American Music Honors Awards.
Bon Jovi and Danny DeVito got holiday before Springsteen
Bruce Springsteen was born on September 23, 1949 in Long Branch, New Jersey. The “Boss” still lives in his home state, whose name was part of the title of his first solo album, Greetings from Asbury Park, NJ.
Incidentally, Springsteen isn’t the first celebrity to have the honor of owning a day in New Jersey. A Bon Jovi Day has been around for five years. The band around Jon Bon Jovi (61) will be celebrated on April 14th. The occasion was the induction of the band into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on April 14, 2018.
Also in 2018, the actor Danny DeVito (78) was honored in this way. He is commemorated in the Garden State on November 17, his birthday.
