Full strip searches carried out before each session on the accused will cease, according to an order from the Brussels Court of Appeal sent on Monday.

The Brussels Court of Appeal on Monday ordered the Belgian police to stop the full kneeling strip searches carried out every day on the defendants detained in the trial of the 2016 jihadist attacks in Brussels, according to a copy of the judgment sent to the AFP.

This question has disturbed the participation of the defendants in the trial since December. Frenchman Salah Abdeslam, who is among the six plaintiffs, refused to appear until the practice ceased. The Belgian State, which justified it for security reasons, had appealed a first unfavorable decision rendered at the end of December.
