BT: obtains funding for R&D in drones

(CercleFinance.com) – BT announces that the consortium it leads, made up of Associated British Ports (ABP), Kier Highways, Connected Places Catapult, RoboK and Herotech8, has won funding for an R&D project for drones and artificial intelligence applications through research agency UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) to help deliver an ambitious vision for the future UK drone economy.

Called ‘Intelligent Drones for Port and Highways Technology’ (InDePTH), this project is part of the ‘Future Flight Challenge Phase 3’ program.

Consortium partners will work to build and test the use of drones to perform automatic surveillance and control operations on critical national infrastructure such as highways and ports.

The ambition of the project is to create efficient, low-carbon and cost-effective solutions for infrastructure management with unmanned aerial systems (UAS).
