Budget 2023: the three motions of censure of the Nupes and the RN rejected by the deputies

Monday evening, the National Assembly rejected the motions of censure tabled by the Nupes and the RN concerning the State budget for 2023. To everyone’s surprise, the deputies of the National Rally voted in favor of the text tabled by the left alliance. A twist that could weaken the right.

Elisabeth Borne escapes the censorship of the Nupes and the National Rally (RN). Unsurprisingly, the two groups’ no-confidence motions were rejected on Monday evening by the National Assembly on the state budget for 2023, leading to the de facto adoption of the revenue part of the Social Security financing bill. at first reading. These motions responded to Article 49.3 of the Constitution, activated twice on Wednesday and Thursday by the Prime Minister. But the twist of the evening was Marine Le Pen’s unexpected support for the left’s no-confidence motion. “At the RN, we are not afraid of threats of dissolution,” she explained.

She had however sworn not to vote the motion of censure of the Nupes but Monday evening, Marine Le Pen took the Assembly by surprise and went back on her words. “If tomorrow we have to go back to the elections, we are ready for it because only the national interest guides these words and these actions. The group that I have the honor to chair will also vote for the motion of censure presented in terms acceptable to the other side of the hemicycle”, she chanted.

A well-prepared political coup

A political coup finely prepared by Marine Le Pen to embarrass the deputies of the Nupes who do not wish to be associated with the National Rally (RN). Neither one nor two, Elisabeth Borne seizes the opportunity to denounce this alliance of common values. “Is it a government where on the benches of ministers would sit side by side Madame Le Pen, Madame Panot, Madame Chatelain, Monsieur Bardella, Monsieur Vallaud, and Monsieur Chassaigne that you are proposing to the French?” she exclaimed.

This brilliant coup by Marine Le Pen also weakens the Republicans. Thanks to their abstention, Elisabeth Borne remains in place. A choice “not easy to defend”, concedes a right-wing elected official.
