Budget estimate 2022 – Doskozil on finance: “Zero deficit 2025 possible”

Aside from the debate about another lockdown, Governor Hans Peter Doskozil presented the budget estimate for 2022 on Thursday. Sustainable investments and financial stability are two of the most important criteria. Doskozil assumes that a zero deficit will be possible again as early as 2025. For him, from today’s perspective, this means the final budgetary overcoming of the crisis.

According to Doskozil, the supplement estimate is a positive aspect. In the 2021 budget, a financing requirement of € 118 million was originally planned – largely due to corona costs and falling earnings. “Thanks to investments, good developments on the income side and strict budget execution, the financing requirement was reduced to 62 million euros,” explained Doskozil. New debt lower than expected The amount is covered. This means that far lower new borrowing than forecast could be achieved for 2021 – the total will decrease by 36 million to 388 million euros, 470 million euros had been calculated in advance. The key figures for the 2022 budget are also extremely pleasing for Doskozil. “With payments of 1.413 billion euros and deposits of 1.36 billion euros, the financing requirement is 52 million euros. Another important detail: Instead of the initially expected new debt of 105 million euros with 575.3 million as a total, a significantly lower debt of 440 million euros is now achieved, ”said Doskozil.
