In parallel with these complicated relationships between the protagonists, actress Charisma Carpenter accused creator Joss Whedon in 2021 of toxic behavior on the sets of Buffy and Angel.
Usually rather discreet on social networks, Sarah Michelle Gellar had posted an Instagram post in which she declared that she no longer wanted to be associated with the name of Joss Whedon, and to support people who had been victims of harassment who had dared to speak up.
“I will never tell my whole story because I get nothing out of it” comments Sarah Michelle Gellar. “I hope the legacy hasn’t changed. I hope it brings success back to the people who did all the hard work.
I will always be proud of Buffy. I will always be proud of what my cast mates have done, of what I have done. Was this an ideal work situation? Absolutely not. But it’s okay to love Buffy for what we’ve created, because I think it’s pretty spectacular.”
