Do you rely on unique items and DIY instead of mass-produced goods? Then build your own clock yourself! Here you will find step-by-step instructions for an extraordinary concrete wall clock. With its simple yet elegant design, the clock is guaranteed to be an eye-catcher in your kitchen.

Build your own clock: materials & tools

Materials:

  • Creative concrete or cement powder
  • Movement including pointer set for a wall clock
  • Bottom of a large wooden empty cheese box
  • craft glue
  • masking tape
  • opaque colour
  • glitter powder

Tools & Aids:

  • Wall drill bit with the diameter of the clock hand holder
  • large plaster cup or discarded bowl
  • spoon
  • Paint brush

Build your own clock: instructions

  1. Mix the concrete powder in a plaster beaker with water according to the manufacturer’s instructions on the packaging, pour the concrete mixture into the bottom of the cheese box and distribute it evenly by shaking gently.
  2. Once the concrete has set slightly, press the drill bit into the center of the concrete, then slide the pointer mount into the hole in the concrete to clear the spot (the hole must go through the entire concrete layer from top to bottom).
  3. Let the concrete set and remove the concrete slab from the cheese box shape.
  4. Tape the lines of a quarter of the surface with painter’s tape and paint the quarter. Brush on craft glue in the form of a strip and sprinkle glitter powder over it. Let everything dry well.
  5. Attach the hands to the front and the clockwork to the back of the concrete.

A notice: If you don’t have a plaster cup, don’t clean the bowl of concrete residue in the sink, as hardening concrete/cement can clog the drain. Instead, wipe the wet concrete residue out of the bowl with paper towels.
