Cement, windows, doors – builders have recently had to pay significantly more for building materials. The building materials dealer Alexander Gran explains the reasons and what role a lack of competition plays in this.

Mr. Gran, the prices for building materials have risen by up to 50 percent. Nobody can afford to build anymore.

That doesn’t have to be the case, the material could be much cheaper, up to a quarter cheaper.

For real? But delivery bottlenecks and expensive energy are also a burden on your industry, and the demand is huge.

Yes, of course, it can’t be as cheap as 2019 at the moment. The manufacturers produce at full capacity, more is not possible at the moment. Don’t expect low prices there. But many also do not want to expand their factories in order to be able to produce more and thus reduce the price pressure. This keeps the material unnecessarily expensive.
