DTwo stores of the Franprix brand (Casino group) continued to sell pizzas from the Fraich’Up range of Buitoni, yet affected by a product withdrawal procedure for more than three months, revealed RMC, and the group reacted on Tuesday indicating “to recheck all of its stores.
It was Richard Legrand, a lawyer representing the families of victims who filed a complaint against Buitoni (Nestlé group) because of the E. coli contamination of the brand’s industrial pizzas, who was alerted, explains RMC.
One of the stores continuing to sell pizzas affected by a product recall since March 18 is located “very close to the Champs-Élysées”, the other “in the heart of Paris”, according to the media. In a press release, Franprix accused the managers of the two stores of not having “respected the procedure” for the recall and of having “overridden the security measures put in place”. “They committed a gross fault that we strongly condemn”, indicates the sign again.

Buitoni pizzas are suspected of having caused the death of two children and a judicial investigation has been opened, in particular for involuntary homicide of one person, involuntary injuries concerning 14 people, marketing of a product dangerous for the health and endangerment of others. In total, “56 cases, including 2 deceased children, were infected by bacteria sharing the same characteristics”, and the investigations “confirmed a link between the occurrence of these grouped cases of infection and the consumption of frozen pizzas from the Buitoni brand Fraîch’Up range”, according to the health authorities.
