Law of the series or disturbing dysfunction of the monitoring of our food? For several days, recalls of food products have been multiplying: the last concerns raw milk cheeses made in a Livarot factory belonging to Graindorge, a brand of the Lactalis group. A check showed “a very weak presence” of the bacterium responsible for listeriosis (a rare disease, with around 400 cases per year in France, but potentially fatal) on a single cheese, according to the director of the cheese factory, who “as a precaution”, recalled the whole batch. For the time being, no case of infection linked to these products has been identified, according to Public Health France (SpF); but the escalation of cases, their analysis and the establishment of a link with the incriminated products takes some time.
