Bundesliga: Bayern stumble in Hoffenheim

After the 1-1 draw against Bayer Leverkusen, leader Bayern Munich once again failed to get beyond a draw in the Bundesliga. Hoffenheim defied Bayern at home with a 1-1 draw, although Bayern were able to win the game.

TSG 1899 Hoffenheim is undoubtedly not one of the favorite opponents of German record champions Bayern Munich. This was especially true for the phase in which the current Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann coached Hoffenheim, but Hoffenheim is currently a competitor who can pose problems for Munich. At first glance, the 1-1 draw in the Sinsheim stadium was relatively unspectacular.

After a frenzy like the 7-1 win against Salzburg in the Champions League, it’s difficult to keep up the tension. The fact that Lewandowski scored is just a case for the record anyway. Nevertheless, it was a remarkable game: the attentive referee Schröder whistle-off for Bayern’s offside no fewer than three times. Thomas Müller was offside twice, Lewandowski once.

It was an eventful game. Baumgartner scored for Hoffenheim in the 32nd minute, Lewandowski was able to equalize just before the break. Both teams had numerous opportunities to decide the match, although Munich made the stronger impression overall.

Nagelsmann spoke of an interesting game for spectators and journalists, which means that it is not necessarily pleasant for coaches. He considered the offside decisions to be correct, and he thought his team was a little closer to victory than Hoffenheim. His coach Sebastian Hoeness didn’t want to contradict, he was above all proud that his team had acted courageously. Nagelsmann doesn’t have to worry about the draw: Dortmund’s susceptibility to fluctuations is just as reliable as their own class, and they didn’t use Bayern’s missteps this season.
