The Munich team only played 2-2 against Freiburg in the 24th round of the Bundesliga and only made up minimal ground on Leverkusen.
It was a stroke of genius beyond compare: Jamal Musiala danced like a gazelle through the Freiburg defense and flicked the ball into the far corner to make it 2-1 for Bayern. At this point, the lead was going well for the guests, who were getting better and better.
But the rebellious Freiburg came back again: Lucas Höler scored with a half-volley to make it 2-2 (87th minute) and spoiled the champions’ anniversary: Bayern played their 2000th game in the Bundesliga – no team has yet achieved this mark reached.
Bayern’s “Freiburg series” torn
The game started promisingly for SC: After just 12 minutes, Christian Günter scored a powerful 1-0 goal for the struggling Freiburg team. After a good half hour, Mathys Tel equalized with a curling shot.
Freiburg has been waiting for a complete success for 6 games. Bayern, on the other hand, are once again losing ground in the championship race after 5 league wins against Breisgauer and are only 7 points closer to leaders Leverkusen in the table. The “Werkself” will be in action in Cologne on Sunday.
