Bundesliga ticker – LIVE: whistle again! Will Rapid Derby win home?

The 336th big Viennese football derby as a game of millions: The Bundesliga hit between Austria and Rapid is currently running. We report live (see ticker below). Rapid is currently leading 1-0.

Here is the live ticker: Here are the latest pictures from the game: There have already been a total of six games in which neither team was able to walk away as the winner. Rapid last managed to do this away from home in early September 2019. A success on Sunday would be doubly sweet for the guests. The team that is in third place at the end of the season will play in a European group phase in the fall and can therefore budget at least three million euros. But the Viennese also pointed out the sporting importance of playing the European Cup throughout the autumn. “It would be very valuable to grow and take your own development to the next level,” explained the sporting director, who once again announced a major change in personnel for the summer. For the time being, however, the focus is on the duel with archrivals. “The derby is a game for our fans. It will be hot, the anticipation is great,” said Barisic. In the past games against Austria, Rapid was not favored by luck. “I would prefer it if we weren’t the better team this time and went home with three points. On Sunday it’s the bare result that counts.” Coach Ferdinand Feldhofer agreed with this opinion. “It doesn’t matter how – if we get three points, we can be satisfied.” In this case, third place would almost be fixed, emphasized the Styrian. Feldhofer will have to do without the injured Ferdy Druijf against Austria, but otherwise the personnel situation looks better than a few weeks ago, especially in the central defender position, where Maximilian Hofmann, Kevin Wimmer and Emanuel Aiwu are available. The latter could switch to central midfield or play in a back three, but the 42-year-old kept a low profile in this respect. Feldhofer also left open who will replace the suspended Niklas Hedl in goal. Paul Gartler is fit again, Bernhard Unger is another candidate. “We will decide that either after the final training session on Saturday or on Sunday morning,” explained Feldhofer and reported that his team was looking forward to the game. “I didn’t have to motivate much this week, but that wasn’t really an issue in the past few weeks either.” Hofmann recalled the long wait for a win against Austria. “There are a few players here who have never won a derby, they finally want to win now.” Rapid has not won for three rounds, from the last six games they have only had one full success. Austria, on the other hand, is currently waiting for six rounds for a win and wants to end this series in front of a full crowd. By Friday afternoon, over 13,000 tickets had been sold, and the hosts only gave out tickets to subscribers and members. Rapid received 1600 cards. “What better time than to start winning again in the derby?” asked Manfred Schmid. The Austria coach expects great emotions.
