OUAGADOUGOU (Reuters) – Burkina Faso’s transitional president Ibrahim Traore said in a statement that he had appointed lawyer and writer Appollinaire Joachim Kyélem de Tambéla as interim prime minister on Friday.

Ibrahim Traoré was formally appointed transitional president of Burkina Faso last Friday, two weeks after leading a coup and deposing Paul-Henri Damiba, author of a previous coup in January.

Appollinaire Joachim Kyélem de Tambéla, a lawyer by training, has worked as a presenter for a private television channel and has written books dealing with the politics and history of Burkina Faso.
