Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has announced that he will track down and kill the head of the radical Islamic Palestinian organization Hamas in the Gaza Strip. “We will find (Jahja) Sinwar and eliminate him,” Gallant told reporters in Tel Aviv. Sinwar is considered one of the masterminds of the major attack on Israel on October 7th. The 61-year-old has been the political leader of the terrorist organization ruling the Gaza Strip since 2017. Israel sees him as the financier and trainer for the massacres of October 7th.
According to security sources, Sinwar and Hamas military leader Mohammed Deif are hiding in the tunnel system in the Gaza Strip. Four weeks ago, their fighters brutally murdered around 1,400 people in Israel and kidnapped more than 240 others.
Sinwar is referred to by Israel as the “Butcher of Khan Yunis” – Khan Yunis is a town in the southern Gaza Strip – for his violent and cruel torture methods against his enemies, both Israelis and Palestinians. The 60-year-old was in Israeli custody for a total of 24 years and also learned Hebrew during this time. In 2011, he was one of more than 1,000 Palestinian prisoners released as part of a prisoner exchange in exchange for Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit.
Sinwar is said to have left Gaza only once or twice in the last six years for stays in Egypt. “He doesn’t know much about the rest of the world or diplomatic relations, he’s focused on jihad,” the head of the Palestinian Studies Forum at Tel Aviv University’s Dayan Center, Michael Milshtein, told Fox News a few days ago. “He believes that he was born to promote jihad and kill the infidels, that is his approach,” said Milshtein. “I don’t see him running away, giving up or surrendering, he will fight until he dies.”
