Buying AirPods Pro? You should also take AppleCare+

In October 2019, Apple announced its brand new wireless headphones, the AirPods Pro. At 280 euros, they are the most expensive we have seen from Apple, and also the most efficient. The pro version of the AirPods is hugely popular and features active noise cancellation, a new transparency mode, improved sound, and a new design. However, if you’re willing to pay $280 for wireless headphones, you should also consider paying an additional $29 for two years of AppleCare+ coverage.

Apple has posted a support page that lists the cost of replacing an AirPods Pro or its charging case if you lose it or your dog decides to chew on it as one of their toys.

Without AppleCare+, replacing an AirPods Pro will cost you $99 per earphone. If you need to replace the charging case, it will also cost you 99 euros.

With AppleCare+, you get extended warranty and accidental damage coverage. With AppleCare+, replacing a damaged AirPod Pro or charging case will cost $29. That’s a pretty big saving, even if you have to replace an earbud on two separate occasions. You get two “incidents” with AppleCare+ fees, meaning you can replace two earbuds, or the charging case twice, or any combination, and still get the reduced replacement fee.

Unfortunately, AppleCare+ doesn’t cover lost or stolen AirPods Pro, so you’ll have to pay the $99 replacement fee if you lose an earbud. A lost charging case will also cost you 99 euros.
