Buzz Lightyear: the new French voice unveiled… And you will be amazed!

Which French actor was chosen to take up the challenge of lending his voice to the mythical character of Buzz Lightyear? We have the answer!

“To infinity and beyondàààà!” Expected for the cinema next June 22, Buzz Lightyear will tell the true story of the legendary Space Ranger who has since inspired the toy we all know.

After being stranded with his commander and his crew on a hostile planet located 4.2 million light years from Earth, Buzz Lightyear tries to bring everyone home safe and sound.

For this, he can count on the support of a group of ambitious young recruits and on his adorable robot cat, Sox. But the arrival of the terrible Zurg and his army of ruthless robots will not make their task any easier, especially since the latter has a very specific plan in mind.

To carry out this perilous mission, a high-flying cast has been brought together by Disney. Contrary to what we could hear in the trailers, it is not Adrien Antoine (VF of Henry Cavill) who will lend his voice to Buzz. It is not either Alexandre Gillet, VF of Chris Evans, although the latter is the interpreter of the hero in VO.

François Civil, known for his performances in Bac Nord, Le Chant du loup or En corps, will vocally embody the famous space ranger.

The 32-year-old actor, who will soon be D’Artagnan in Les 3 Mousquetaires, will have the heavy task of making people forget the legendary Richard Darbois. The latter dubbed Buzz toy version in the original Toy Story saga.

François Civil will be Buzz Lightyear

The actor delivered such a breathtaking performance as Buzz Lightyear that it’s hard to imagine the hero without his signature tone. However, it is logical that another actor succeeds him since the character this time is no longer a toy but the real Buzz.

The rest of the French cast is as follows: Lyna Khoudri (Izzy Hawthorne), Michaël Gregorio (Sox, Buzz’s pet robot), Tomer Sisley (Mo Morrison) and Chantal Ladesou (Darby Steel).

Also in the cast Maïk Darah (Alisha Hawthorne adult), Virginie Emane (Alisha Hawthorne young), Frantz Confiac (Commander Burnside), Jean Barney (Zurg), Pauline Moulène (IVAN), Volodia Serre (Eric/Deric), Lionel Lingelser (Featheringhamstan ), Donald Reignoux (Officer Díaz) and Juliette Davis (Young Izzy).

Buzz Lightyear takes off to infinity (and beyond) on June 22.
