One of these critics who has been pushing for reforms for years is Karl Niederer, the controversial pastor of Graz-Gösting and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s birthplace, Thal. He announced (as we hear without informing Bishop Wilhelm Krautwaschl in advance) in the current parish bulletin that he would be retiring next year. Then he’ll be 70. And, of course quite consciously, he caused a bang – by officially “advertising” his position!
