In the Sunday Journal, the Minister of Labor said the mask should be mandatory in meeting rooms but not necessarily in individual offices.

This is the big question of the moment. We have already made a focus on this real societal debate on Aufeminin. Wearing a mask is mandatory and important in the fight against the virus, which is certain, but it can cause certain problems when it affects everyday life in business. For the Minister of Labor, Elisabeth Borne, in an interview with the Journal du dimanche, the government wants to modify "by the end of August" the health rules to contain the coronavirus in companies, in particular via the "compulsory wearing of the mask" in certain situations.

With more than 3,000 cases of coronavirus in 24 hours, reports the France-Presse agency, "on Tuesday we will present to the social partners the first developments that we propose to introduce", announces Elisabeth Borne, adding that these decisions will have to be taken "in in the coming days, so that the new rules can apply by the end of August ".

"The compulsory wearing of a mask" will be recommended "in meeting rooms where there is no natural ventilation (and) circulation spaces", but not necessarily in individual offices where "it is undoubtedly not necessary, ”she says.

Elisabeth Borne wants to seize the High Council of Public Health on the case of "open spaces" and the effectiveness of Plexiglas windows to protect employees. On the other hand, she sees "no reason to question the current rule of distance" imposing one square meter per workstation.

Employers, for their part, must be "more vigilant" when "workers are accommodated in collective accommodation, as is the case for seasonal workers", but also "in cold and humid environments" such as slaughterhouses, estimates the minister.

On teleworking, it remains recommended and "it should be implemented whenever possible in areas of active circulation of the virus," said the politician. In addition, the Minister of Labor recognizes that the economic crisis caused by the coronavirus "translates into more social plans", with "275 job saving plans launched since the beginning of March".
