By the end of October – students were involved in the planning: the traffic trap will be eliminated

Together with the school children, a new mobility concept was developed in Weitensfeld to eliminate a particularly dangerous spot. After the construction work is finished, the way to school should be safer.

Every year, parents have to worry about their children when they are taken to the elementary school in Weitensfeld by bus. Because the stop is unfortunately so unfavorable that the boys and girls have to cross the busy street. And there have been tricky situations several times. This should soon be over. The Obere Platz has been undergoing a general renovation since the spring. And as part of this work, a new mobility node is also to be created. The residents also helped to create the new traffic concept. “Even the elementary school students of 2019 were allowed to bring in their ideas and suggestions,” says Head of Department Christine Lattacher. This also has the effect that the buses will have much more room to turn in the future. Provincial Councilor Martin Gruber: “The bus stop will also have a shelter with a service station and charging facilities for e-bikes, as well as a covered bicycle parking space.” The construction work should be completed by the end of October. A total of 800,000 euros will be invested in the conversion of the town center including the new mobility hub. In this context, the Oberer Platz will also be made climate-friendly by planting 14 deciduous trees and creating a green area. Architect Lena Uedl-Kerschbaumer: “The construction work should be completed by the end of October.”
