Hardly any jewelry trend has been able to hold its own as long as gold jewelry. Particularly sophisticated layering looks and chain chains have been indispensable for the past few years – until now. Silver jewelry is celebrating its comeback and we reveal here how to wear the trend pieces now.
Carrie Bradshaw already knew that chain layering in gold can look incredibly stylish. The mix of filigree pieces and heavy link chains looks harmonious despite the style break. Fashionistas and stars have worn the golden jewelry trend up and down and now should that be the end of it? Exactly, silver jewelry is celebrating its comeback, but a little different from how we wore it in the 90s and 00s.
Silver jewelry is back – but that’s something to watch out for
While hip chains and thin XL hoop earrings were particularly popular in the 2000s, it is now cool statement pieces in silver that are on the rise. Hardly anyone loves the new jewelry trend as much as Kim Kardashian. In October 2021 alone, the reality star shows herself with silver XL earrings on three consecutive days. The new pieces of jewelry not only look good, they also have a significant advantage: They are cheaper than gold jewelry. The price of gold has risen rapidly in recent years, which is why even simple rings are becoming an expensive pleasure. The price of silver is also rising, but it is still a long way from the price level of gold. Perhaps one more reason why silver jewelry in 2021 and 2022 will be significantly larger and bolder.
XL hoop earrings in silver
The small gold hoops will be replaced by medium-sized silver hoops in 2022 – whether with light decorations or simply plain does not matter. So that the show is not stolen from the earrings, it is advisable to avoid ear cufs and small plugs. You can also hold back with these eye-catching pieces when it comes to chains.

Gold and silver in the mix
If you don’t want to part with your favorite pieces of jewelry just yet, you don’t have to do so right away. Gold jewelry in vintage style can be combined well with silver jewelry. The best way to do this is to build two levels: silver rings on the fingers, the chains in the mix and then gold on the ears.

Chain chains with a difference
Every fashionista probably has a gold chain in their jewelry box. The trend chains have mostly been worn short and filigree in recent years. For 2022, however, the restraint is over, the style is becoming much rougher, as you can see on the Gucci catwalk. Thick link chains with industrial charm replace lovely designs and give our style a good dose of street credit.

Glitter and metal – a strong combination
Those who can’t get that much out of industrial chic still don’t have to do without silver jewelry. Few materials are as good for rhinestones, diamonds and pearls as silver, white gold or platinum. The light silver tone is closer to the white of the pearl and the cut stone than yellow or rose gold. The result is a harmonious, bright image that the Chanel fashion house will also be betting on next season.
