BEIJING (Reuters) – TikTok’s Chinese owner ByteDance has no plans to divest its video-sharing social network’s U.S. business, the company said in a statement on Toutiao, a news platform belonging to it.

US online media outlet The Information previously reported that ByteDance was exploring scenarios to sell TikTok’s US operations without the algorithm that recommends videos to the platform’s users.

US President Joe Biden on Wednesday signed into law a law giving ByteDance nine months to divest TikTok assets to the United States due to concerns that China could access or monitor the data of American citizens through the application.
