Cac 40: When will the CAC 40 groups publish their results for the year 2023?

(BFM Bourse) – The traditional season of annual publications has already started on Wall Street and will start next Thursday within the Parisian index. Investors will obviously be very attentive to the prospects for the year which has just begun.

A pivotal period for the market, the season of annual publications is about to take off on the Paris Stock Exchange. The banks have already got the ball rolling on Wall Street for two weeks, and the start will be given next week on the French square.

The first two groups to publish their annual accounts will be, on Thursday, the semiconductor specialist STMicroelectronics, in the morning, and the number one in luxury LVMH, after the market closes.

Unlike the half-yearly results and their infernal rhythm concentrated in a single week (32 CAC 40 groups had published accounts for the period from July 24 to July 28), the annual results season is longer, and extends from end of January to March (with Thales, Teleperformance and Vivendi, which will close the ball on March 7).

Certain days will nevertheless be very busy, notably February 15, when eight CAC 40 companies will publish annual accounts. With some great customers, like Airbus, Safran, the two car manufacturers Stellantis and Renault, and even Schneider Electric. It’s better not to celebrate Valentine’s Day too late, the day before.

An impressive profit for Stellantis?

We will see if the groups will manage to achieve higher results, in total, than those of the 2022 financial year. In the first half of the year, the CAC 40 residents were off to a good start, at least in terms of net income: on average, the progression was around 12% over the first six months of 2023, which therefore gives a small advance.

Stellantis had generated nearly 11 billion euros in net profit, group share, over the first six months of 2023, and could therefore find itself close to – or even surpassing – the best mark for 2022. Totalenergies then published a consolidated net profit of 20.5 billion dollars, or around 19 billion euros, a figure that the oil group probably did not beat last year, given the drop in oil and gas prices.

As a reminder, the record in terms of net profit for a CAC 40 group is held by Vivendi, which in 2021 generated a net profit of… 24.7 billion euros. This figure was due to an exceptional element, namely the accounting capital gain (24.84 billion euros) linked to the distribution to its shareholders of Universal Music Group shares, during the listing-split of the record company.

Here, by date, is the calendar of annual publications for all CAC 40 members. With the exception, however, of Pernod Ricard and Alstom which will communicate, respectively, half-yearly results for one and a turnover as well as order intake in the third quarter for the other, with both companies publishing staggered 2023-2024 financial years.
