(CercleFinance.com) – The Paris stock market ends the day’s session with a gain of 1.5% around 7433 points, well helped by the surge in luxury with +3.4% for LVMH, +3.2% for Hermès and +3% for L’Oréal.
These three values also sign the largest increases in the CAC. Kering, 4th luxury value of the Parisian index, is not far away with +2.2%.
Eagerly awaited by the markets, the figures on US inflation published at the start of the afternoon showed that consumer prices had only slightly increased last month across the Atlantic, due in particular to a decline in electricity and used vehicle costs, indicating that price pressures are moderating.
The US Department of Labor reports an increase in consumer prices (CPI) of only 0.2% in July, just like in June.
Over one year, the CPI shows an increase of 3.2%, against +3% the previous month, but this figure is in line with the consensus.
On the bond market, the yield of the 10-year American is fluctuating around 4%, while the German bunds are nearing 2.50%.
On the foreign exchange market, the euro gained 0.4% against the greenback, to $1.10.
In the news of French companies, Viel & Cie posted consolidated revenue from operating subsidiaries of 553.7 million euros for the first six months of 2023, up 12.1% at current exchange rates and 13.4% at constant exchange rates.
Alstom announces the confirmation, by the Connecticut US State Department of Transportation (CTDOT), of an order for 60 single-level cars, valued at approximately 285 million euros (approximately 315 million dollars).
Getlink, the operator of the Channel Tunnel, indicates that its Shuttle Freight transported 97,577 trucks in July, a number down 16% in annual comparison, in a context of slow consumption of British households.
