(CercleFinance.com) – The Paris stock market ended the session with a decline of 1.29%, at 7209 points, while Wall Street reopened after a long weekend.
The Paris index was notably penalized by the declines of TotalEnergies (-3.4%), Pernod Ricard (-2.9%) and Danone (-2.8%).

On the statistics front, investors were able to learn about inflation in Spain this morning. This slowed more than expected in May, continuing its deceleration initiated for almost a year, show data published Tuesday by the National Institute of Statistics (Ine).

Consumer prices thus increased by 3.2% over one year this month, against +4.1% in April, according to the first estimate unveiled this morning by the institute.

Further price data will be unveiled in the rest of Europe by the end of the week.

Throughout the Old Continent, analysts are expecting an ebb in inflationary pressures in May, largely thanks to the recent drop in energy prices.

Still in terms of statistics, it should be noted that American consumer confidence deteriorated in May, according to the index calculated by the Conference Board which stands at 102.3 for the month that is ending, compared to 103 .7 (revised, however, from 101.3 in the initial estimate) in April.
For their part, house prices in the United States continued to rise in March compared to the same month of 2022, thanks in particular to particularly significant increases in Florida, according to the monthly S&P Corelogic Case-Shiller survey published on Tuesday.

Finally, it should be noted that across the Atlantic, after intense negotiations, the Democratic and Republican leaders seem to have reached an agreement in principle on raising the US debt ceiling, ruling out the risk of seeing the world’s leading economic power fall into default. of payment.

This agreement could be submitted to the votes of both chambers of Congress as early as this Wednesday, that is to say on the eve of the June 1 deadline when the Treasury would run out of money.
