CAC40: widens its losses, the bond deteriorates markedly


(CercleFinance.com) – After the end of the 1st stock market semester in ‘euphoria’ mode this Friday 16/06 (‘4 witches’), the Paris Stock Exchange is beginning a small, slow but steady slide between 7,360 and 7,305, in volumes which do not exceed 1.3 billion euros.
No real selling pressure, no consolidation by contagion of the US markets, Wall Street being closed on June 19 (day of commemoration of the end of slavery).

The Euro-Stoxx50 fell back by -0.8% to 4,360, against 4,392 this morning (after a re-test of the record of 4,400 Pts on Friday).

After experiencing a bout of weakness in early spring, global stock markets had regained a more favorable momentum in recent weeks, helped by the good performance of Japanese equities and the strength of the technology compartment thanks to AI.

In the economic chapter, the publication – on Friday – of the PMI indices in Europe and the United States will be the big event expected on the world markets this week.

These indicators should confirm the very wide disparity that currently exists between the dynamism of the service sector and the weakness of the manufacturing industry.

At the bond level, Friday’s gains are erased with a rebound of +6Pts in yields: the 10-year German Bund tends to 2.524%, that of the OAT towards 3.037% and the Italian BTP shows up to +10pts to 4.14%, in view of upcoming rate hikes from the ECB.

On the foreign exchange market, the greenback is recovering by +0.4% with a euro at 1.0915 dollars, traders now seem to be betting on an economic slowdown across the Atlantic.

In the news of French companies, TotalEnergies (+0.5%) affirms that it will, from 2028, be able to produce half a million tonnes of sustainable air fuel (SAF), in response to the gradual increase European mandates for the aviation sector.

Thales announces the order by the Indonesian group PT Len Industri of 13 Ground Master (GM) 400 Alpha long-range surveillance radars, with the associated SkyView command and control system.

Finally, Stellantis announced on Monday that its partnership with the American Archer, a manufacturer of electric aircraft intended for the urban environment, had entered the execution phase.
The motorway concessionaires Eiffage and Vinci fall from -5 to -6% in view of an increase in toll taxes.
