Ubisoft Paris employees are called to strike by the Solidaires Informatique trade union on Friday, January 27. A reaction to the latest statement from Yves Guillemot, CEO of Ubisoft, who, on the sidelines of disappointing financial results, called on his teams to “to give the best of ourselves” and to be “as efficient as possible”.
The union accuses Yves Guillemot of clearing himself of the disappointing results on his teams, instead of focusing on the real problems that are plaguing the company. Namely a failing human management. And an incessant multiplication of projects without any being really supported to see the light of day. As such, it is worth remembering that Ubisoft represents one of the largest payrolls in the industry. But also one of the worst internal architectures. The testimonies of poorly supervised projects and chaining the galleys are legion, Skull & Bones being the perfect example.
In response to Mr Guillemot’s accusations, the union is demanding an immediate 10% increase in all salaries, to compensate for inflation. Citing the millions of euros obtained in the takeover of part of the company by Tencent as an obvious source of income. But also the improvement of working conditions within the company, with in particular a transition to the 4-day week. An increasingly popular device in video game studios.
To push these claims, Solidaires Informatique therefore calls on the employees of Ubisoft Paris to strike. This will be held Friday, January 27, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
