  • This is a new feature of the Gunsmith feature.
  • This should allow you to completely turn the identity of a weapon on its head.

In Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 you have various options to customize your gaming experience in each game. In addition to an innovative perk system, there are also so-called “Aftermarket Parts”, which represent a new function of the “Gunsmith” feature.

Unlike the weapon attachments that you unlock in the normal course of “Gunsmith”, these “aftermarket parts” are intended to significantly modify the function of a weapon.

“Gunsmith” feature explained

The “Gunsmith” feature acts as a special submenu where you can customize weapon attachments, camouflages and attachment tuning. In Modern Warfare 2, all players unlock this feature at rank four, although some weapon attachments are only accessible after meeting certain conditions.

A combination of up to five different attachments for a weapon can currently be set in eight equipment slots. Modern Warfare 3 now adds another slot to this system called “Aftermarket Parts”.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 – Remastered maps from Modern Warfare 2

Sledgehammer Games has reworked 16 mutiplayer maps from the previous title for Modern Warfare 3. This is what the modified maps look like.

“Aftermarket Parts”

Aftermarket Parts are a new feature that you unlock after reaching the highest level of a weapon and completing a special in-game challenge.

In contrast to the conventional attachments in the “Gunsmith” feature, the “Aftermarket Parts” are part of the newly introduced “Conversion Kits”. As soon as you have activated one of these “conversion kits”, the option to use other weapon attachments is no longer available.

Difference from conventional weapon attachments

The “Conversion Kits” aim to fundamentally transform the essence of a weapon in order to create a completely new weapon experience. Among other things, you can convert the “Renetti Handgun” into a fully automatic handgun, which then has the characteristics of a machine gun.

During the beta phase you can probably already take a look at the various “aftermarket parts”. You also have the opportunity to explore five of the 16 revised maps from Modern Warfare 2.
