Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, reduced development time, expansion transformed into a game, developers let loose

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is released todaythe new first-person shooter fromActivision And Sledgehammer Gameswhich offers players a single-player campaign, a mode Zombies and of course multiplayer, the latter featuring the cult maps of CoD: MW 2 (2009).

But the first feedback is not good, the players have already awkwardly expressed their dissatisfaction on MetacriticAnd internally, things are not all rosy either. Bloomberg spoke with several developers from Sledgehammer Games who, on condition of anonymity, denounces a chaotic design for this Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III. The studio, already behind Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, WWII And Vanguardonly hada year and a half to develop this new opus, or half the time than usual. In 16 months, Sledgehammer Games was originally intended to design a simple extension spin off for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare IIfocusing on missions in Mexico.

This project Jupiter was however rebooted currently being developed to become the CoD: MW III which is coming out today, a change experienced as a betrayal by the developers, who had to cruncher to release the game on time. Basic, Sledgehammer Games didn’t even want to work on one Modern Warfarehe had proposed to Activision the project AnvilA Call of Duty in the universe of Advanced Warfarebut before even starting production, the studio was placed on CoD: MW III. As if that wasn’t enough, the studio had to submit its content for approval toInfinity Wardat the origin of the franchise and the last two MW in particular. This led to long validation times and changes requested by Infinity Wardbut not wanted by Sledgehammer Games.

As a reminder, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is the latest opus ofActivision as an independent publisher, it is now officially owned by Microsoft. Hopefully the manufacturer of Xbox looks after the franchise a little better and doesn’t wear it out further, just like the developers who work on it every year.
