Announced recently after quite a few leaks, Call of Duty Modern Warfare III will be released on November 10 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series. It will directly follow the remake of Modern Warfare II and should offer some form of continuity. In the meantime, it was during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live that the first gameplay sequence was unveiled.

As usual, the rendering is stunning but this year, we must not stop at the graphic rendering of the title. Indeed, this is the introductory mission, but especially the first Open Combat type mission. The developers on stage have indeed indicated that to accompany the classic linear missions, Sledgehammer has integrated more open missions in which players can choose their approach.

By selecting the most appropriate equipment, the public will be able to play it tactical infiltration, or on the contrary, to make the maximum noise by attacking frontally. This presentation was extremely well received by players, who demanded a little more freedom and replayability in extremely calibrated single-player campaigns.

Zombies mode, progression, multi… we take stock

The single-player campaign call of duty is clearly thought of as a loss leader. It’s extremely well staged, it’s dynamic, and it’s often of great beauty. But the heart of the license is the various multiplayer modes, which now complement the battle royale experience that is Warzone. In the latter, players will have access to new mechanics related to movements and close combat, but also to more customization on the side of the loadout.

In parallel, Activision has indicated that the Elimination and Hardpoint modes will return under the name Cutthroat and that they will be playable in 3v3. Finally, the developers have confirmed that operators will have access to skills from the start of the game, that health has been increased, and that voting for cards will be present. About these multiplayer maps, there will be sixteen of them at launch. These will be cards from the 2009 game, upgraded from a graphical point of view, but retaining the same structure. The list of cards announced is as follows:

  • Highrise
  • South Base
  • Estate
  • Terminal
  • Wasteland
  • Afghan
  • Rust
  • Underpass
  • Invasion
  • Karachi
  • Quarry
  • skidrow
  • Scrapyard
  • favela
  • derail

Expected, the Zombies Mode will be there. The co-op mode is developed by Treyarch, who are currently working on the biggest map ever made for this game mode and talk about it as a small open world. Finally, note that if you have played Modern Warfare IIit will normally be possible to transfer skins, weapons and operators.
