If we are going to enjoy Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 in the coming months, they will not be the only two games that Infinity Ward will offer since the studio is indeed looking for new talent for an unannounced open-world project. We take stock with you.
An open-world Call of Duty RPG approaching?
We know it only too well, but when a studio publishes one or more job offers, it’s always the best way to get an idea of the direction that the future project will take. And based on the posting of a vacancy at Infinity Ward, the developers seem to be changing course drastically since they are, it seems, looking for a narrative director to craft an open-world RPG.
Unfortunately, at the time of writing, said job posting has since been deleted, but that was of course without counting on our industry insiders who did not hesitate to capture some evidence.
So, according to this post shared by CharlieIntelthe next project of IInfinity Ward should emphasize a “narrative and cinematic experience in an open-world RPG“. With these words, we understand that the developers want the Call of Duty license to take a 180° turn and therefore change completely.
Moreover, still according to the job offer, “story, characters, heritage, and world-building will be featured, as will new writers and quest designers“. Although it is not written in black and white that it is indeed a next Call of Duty title, doubt is still allowed and several ideas inevitably come to mind. the famous standalone zombiesque that Treyarch is also working on? Or just another totally new Call of Duty game, both in form and content? Anyway, we’re going to have to wait a lot before find out more about what’s behind this open-world RPG…

While waiting for any announcement on this new project, we remind you that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be released on October 28 on PC, Xbox consoles and PlayStation.
Through the latter, we will find Task Force 141 headed by Captain Price. If we have already had the right to gameplay images of its Campaign mode, we will have to wait a little longer before discovering the Multiplayer images this time.
