From the top of his 200,000 subscribers, the far-right youtubeur Papacito went on a personal crusade against the 75-year-old mayor of a town of 167 inhabitants.

Attacks on mayors by the far right are not news stories yet, but they could well become one. After the attacks against the mayor of Saint-Brévin-les-Pins a month ago in response to his decision to open a center for migrants, which had led to his resignation, it is now Christian Eurgal, the mayor of Montjoi in Tarn-et-Garonne, which is directly targeted by a delirious campaign. In question ? His decision to favor, in the context of a neighborhood dispute, one of the inhabitants of his commune to the detriment of another, who knows the youtuber.

Who is Papacito?

If monarchists and masculinists are not really a rare commodity on the Internet in general and on YouTube in particular, Papacito, whose real name is Ugo Gil Gimenez, is, without a doubt, one of the headliners In France. Indeed, the man never misses an opportunity to recall that he is on the far right, and his fellow men are not mistaken: he has been invited several times by the magazine Current Values or South Radio, and has done YouTube collaborations with channels like the dissenting Raptora specialist in spreading moral panics, or even Code Reinhowho is obsessed with guns.

It is with the latter that he achieves one of his brilliant strokes: in a video since deleted, the two men decide to test whether “leftism is bulletproof” before shooting a mannequin that was supposed to represent a leftist, by any definition. A video shared in particular (to denounce it) by Jean-Luc Mélenchon. Papacito also openly threatened a journalist from the newspaper Release who investigated him.

But he is not just a provocateur who gargles with the indignation caused by his countless homophobic, racist, nationalist, or generally far-right outings. In 2018, he launched with The Dissident Raptor, #MonteUneEquipe, an initiative that aimed to bring together small groups of armed neo-Nazis ” in case “. If the two youtubeurs then left the project, this one, for information, still exists under the name of Patriot Revenge and would have about 400 members.

However, no social network has yet banned his account, except Twitter in 2021. Despite the general amnesty when Musk arrived, Papacito has not returned there.

But why is he attacking the mayor of a small village?

A few months ago, Christian Eurgal made an arbitration in favor of one of the inhabitants of his commune, to the detriment of a farmer. Unfortunately, the latter knows Papacito, and calls on him who does not need to be asked. Last November, a one-hour video distorting reality was posted on this banal affair by the nationalist youtubeur, with a predictable result: the mayor therefore received daily insults and death threats, and was placed under police protection.

A protection that shows its limits since Papacito, accompanied by some of his friends, including the farmer concerned, visits the mayor directly in the town hall. The youtuber, sure of his impunity, reports on all this in a new 42-minute video. The city councilor is compared at length to a weasel that must be hunted and captured. In a tasteful deluge, the video features a scene in which a giant stuffed weasel is raped, beaten, and left for dead. The streets of the village, the facade of the town hall, or even that of the neighbor were of course sprayed with paint and insults.

Both videos now have over 500,000 views each. They were posted seven months and three weeks ago respectively, and could hardly be more explicit calls for hatred and violence. However, they are still freely accessible on YouTube, despite the rules of the platform on the one hand, and especially the six complaints filed by the mayor on the other. Probably because there aren’t too many bad words.
