Calogero was thought to be very reluctant to participate in “The Voice” and even more so in “The Voice Kids”, a program he criticized last May. However, TF1 has just announced that the 52-year-old artist will be the “supercoach” for the final of the ninth season of the children’s singing competition, on August 29.

A surprising announcement to say the least… As TF1 has just revealed, Calogero will be the “supercoach” for the grand finale of The Voice Kids next Tuesday, August 29. The interpreter of If only I could miss him had however criticized the program barely two months ago, last May, at the microphone of M.Radio: “TV is not made to highlight children, whatever their talents, to show the face of someone ‘one is not trivial“, had estimated the 52-year-old artist, who has visibly changed his mind…

“I am not comfortable with the idea of judging the candidates”

In the same interview, Calogero explained that he was a fan of the adult version of The Voice but not feeling legitimate to be a coach. “The TV game annoys me. Even though I love the show, I would never be able to do the same as Florent Pagny. For me, he’s the real boss of this program,” he said before adding: “I don’t think I’m comfortable with the idea of judging the candidates. I like to transmit but what bothers me the most are also the cameras”. For the final of The Voice Kids, the 52-year-old singer will however have to comment on the performances of the candidates alongside their coaches, Slimane, Nolwenn Leroy, Patrick Fiori and Kendji.

Calogero will not be the only outstanding guest at the singing competition final. Chimène Badi, Tayc, Amir, Pascal Obispo and the former winner of The Voice Aurélien Vivos will sing a duet with the four finalists. The name of the big winner will be announced at the end of the evening.
