A tragedy occurred in Calvados on Thursday January 19, 2023, as reported by Ouest France. That day, the body of a two-year-old child, and that of his 27-year-old aunt, were found in an apartment ravaged by flames.

Located in the department of Calvados, the city of Caen was the scene of a terrible tragedy Thursday January 19, 2023as reported by the local newspaper West France. That day, the firefighters were called in the morning to intervene on a fire that had broken out in a residence comprising several apartments. Once the fire was brought under control, firefighters made a terrible discovery on the spot.

Indeed, the latter found the lifeless body of a child only two years old, but also that of his aunt, who was 27 years old. It was the body of the young boy who was discovered first in the rubble of the fire. For her part, the child’s aunt was first reported missing, before her lifeless body was found in what remained of the apartment a little later. According to the first elements of the investigation carried out on the spot, the fire was allegedly started accidentally on the ground floor. Since the two unfortunate victims were upstairs, the flames of the fire therefore trapped them within the apartment. With no way out, the child and his aunt perished before the firefighters arrived.

Calvados: the survivors of the fire were taken to the hospital

According to information released later by the BFMTV news channel, the house in which this tragic fire broke out was divided into four apartments, themselves arranged in the form of a duplex. In addition to the two victims of the flames, two adults, a teenager, and a 5-year-old child lived in this residence. Fortunately for them, they all managed to get out of their accommodation before help arrived. In a state of shock after this event, the latter were taken to the nearest hospital, as they had been slightly intoxicated by the flames of the fire.
