Cambodia, open arms for French investors

Operation seduction in Phnom Penh. The Cambodian capital welcomed a hundred French companies and potential investors last week to unveil its new face: that of an Asian capital in full development, teeming with opportunities.

“Our objective is to show that Cambodia is an increasingly mature market, where a French company can easily establish itself to grow locally or shine on the regional market”explains Soreasmey Ke Bin, president of the local chamber of commerce (CCI), co-organizer of the France-Cambodia business forum.

Often the victim of a negative image, conveyed by the bloodthirsty regime of the Khmer Rouge and thirty years of civil war, Cambodia is now trying to weigh against its Thai and Vietnamese neighbors. The country has a few assets to promote: no sector of the economy is prohibited to foreign investors, who can own 100% of their subsidiary…
