Campino: What his father thought of the Toten Hosen

After his father was at a Toten Hosen concert for the first time, he became an enthusiastic fan, Campino said in an interview.

In an interview with "Zeit" Campino (58) spoke about his relationship with his father and his relationship with the Toten Hosen. The musician describes his father, who has since passed away, with the words: "He supported whoever was his friend. On the other hand, he also had something incredibly weak, angry, bitter."

At the beginning of his musician career, his parents were concerned, said Campino. They feared "drugs, violence, what do I know." However, that changed suddenly when his father attended a performance by the Toten Hosen for the first time. After the "wild night in the cafeteria of the University of Düsseldorf, when everything broke down, right down to the toilets" his father was enthusiastic about the band. From then on he would have always wanted to bring old friends to the gigs, continues the lead singer. His old man refused earplugs with the remark: "Boy, I was in the artillery!"

Not for the first time Campino also tells that after the death of his father he found a shoe box in his desk, in which he had neatly kept newspaper articles about his son and the band.
