Campsites in Bremen: the 3 most beautiful places for your camping holiday

Camping holidays in their own country have been very popular with many, not only since Corona. In a new series, FOCUS Online presents the most beautiful campsites in every federal state: today Bremen.

1. Hanse Camping, Stadtwaldsee

Beach holidays in the city – that's possible at the five-star campsite Hanse Camping. Because it is located in the middle of a recreation area on the Stadtwaldsee, which locals affectionately call Unisee. This 20-hectare body of water is actually a bathing lake: campers have access to the on-site lido with a large, sandy entry bay and lawn. If you like to jump into the cool water without any textile, you can do so in the separate nudist area.

The site has 233 parking spaces, most of which are parceled out and some are up to 145 square meters in size. In addition to a well-kept sanitary building, a bread service and a children's playground with a climbing frame, there is even a diving center that offers taster, crash and professional excursions into the depths of the lake.

The restaurant "Il Lago" with a beautiful wooden terrace directly on the lake ensures the physical well-being of the holidaymakers. The menu includes Italian dishes from pasta, pizza to steaks from the grill, but also typical local delicacies such as "Kohl & Pinkel", a groat sausage with kale.

Tip: Definitely go on bike tours. In the vicinity of the square, numerous cycle paths lead past, such as the Hamburg-Bremen cycle path, the Wümmeradweg and the path from Teufelsmoor to the Wadden Sea. Cycle paths also lead to the city center, six kilometers away.

2. Camping Rechtenfleth and Sandstedt on the Unterweser

In the middle of nature on the sandy shores of the Unterweser are these two belonging campsites Rechtenfleth and Sandstedt, which are real insider tips. There is no entertainment program here, no bowling alley or supermarket. The operators Edith and Oliver value close-to-nature, simple camping without unnecessary luxury – for everyone for whom the rippling of the Weser, twittering birds and beautiful sunrises and sunsets are more important than action.

The sanitary facilities are well-kept and clean, but a bit older – both places are directly on the Weser, the southern Sandstedt even directly at the Sandstedt-Brake ferry pier.

The magical river landscape of the Unterweser can be wonderfully explored on foot or by bike on the paths behind the dike. There are also the picturesque towns of Rechtenfleth and Sandstedt with all the shops of everyday life. Bremen and Bremerhaven are only 20 to 30 minutes away by car.

Tip: There are simple but delicious fish dishes in the Campingklause Rechtenfleth.

Camping has one big advantage: you save it Airport stress. If there were delays of more than 3 hours or cancellations on one of your last flights, you are entitled to up to 600 euros compensation. That applies to all air travel since 2017.

3. Knaus Camping Oyten, Oyter See

The campsite is an ideal location to combine a beach holiday and a city trip to Bremen. The Oyter See is located directly at the Bremer Kreuz southeast of Bremen – it is about 15 kilometers to the city center.

The area with 83 parking spaces borders directly on the lake and offers pure bathing pleasure with a 300 meter long sandy beach. Thanks to a system, vacationers can even wakeboard and water ski – or be dragged across the water in rubber boats.

The services of the campsite include a bread roll service, a well-kept sanitary area plus washing machines and dryers, and a bistro with a beer garden. Children can let off steam in the playground, soccer field, table tennis and mini golf. There is even an entertainment program.

Tip: The bus leaves for the city center directly at the campsite, so that the pretty old town with the town hall and the Bremen Roland statue, which belong to the world cultural heritage, can be easily explored. Other excursion tips: the Universum Sciene Center Bremen, which introduces children to the secrets of natural science in a playful way, and the Verden amusement park with wild water rink, roller coaster and numerous performances.
