Anyone who is hesitant to invest in an expensive motorhome can hope for strong discounts and discounts that are on the horizon. An alternative is to convert your existing everyday vehicle into a (weekend) camper.
Various manufacturers offer modules that can be quickly installed and removed. The provider Vanessa already has such a kit for the Mercedes Citan. In normal everyday life you drive around in a family carriage. If you go out into the countryside, the outdoor kitchen, sleeping bench and other accessories are packed up in modules.
Mercedes-Benz now offers the Marco Polo module for the Mercedes-Benz T-Class and the Citan Tourer. The Stuttgart-based car manufacturer is simultaneously announcing the availability of the two long-wheelbase vehicles mentioned; The camping module, however, only fits in the two high-roof station wagons with a normal wheelbase.
The module, which can be flexibly installed and removed, is securely fastened in the trunk of the respective vehicle using lashing eyelets. It consists of a bed for two people and an optional kitchen unit with a sink and gas cartridge stove.
If desired, a suitable cool box can also be ordered that fits in the kitchen unit. Other optional features include an additional battery, the sleep package with blackout elements and ventilation grilles with insect protection for the window panes, as well as window pockets that can be attached between the C and D pillars.
There is also an optional table and camping chairs directly from Mercedes. According to the manufacturer, the table can be used both inside and outside in front of the micro camper thanks to different feet.
