Last March, the first information about a mysterious Project Diamond (Where N4) from Samsung were appearing. Behind this name hides yet another rather special smartphone. Because as several diagrams from patents reveal, it will indeed be a question of a phone equipped with a roll-up screen. Thus, many wonder if such a device can finally be presented during this month of August.
Lots of uncertainties
First of all, it is important to note that Samsung has already looked into prototypes of rollable screens in the past. It is therefore not a scoop to learn that the multinational is working in this area. However, the patents unearthed in recent weeks allow us to temper our expectations… Because we should not imagine a phone that can be twisted in all directions. It is rather a model with an extendable frame used to fully or partially deploy the screen.
If Samsung could well evoke such a project during its Galaxy Unpacked, observers do not expect the marketing of a phone of this type for several years. Today there are too many technical constraints to launch such an ambitious mobile. Thus, it must be recognized that it is difficult to see the famous manufacturer putting a rollable smartphone on the front of the stage from 2022.
