If all clothing stores are closed until further notice, it is still possible to shop online. But isn't it risky to receive packages at home? Don't panic, we're telling you right here!

On March 14, Edouard Philippe announced the immediate closure of non-essential businesses to combat the spread of the coronavirus. Bars, restaurants, shopping centers and other shops have therefore closed for indefinite period. Very bad news for the fashionistas that we are! But if shopping is no longer possible for the moment, some online shopping still ensure deliveries. This is very good news for those who want to renew their wardrobe or those who are looking for inspiration for spring.

Are deliveries still guaranteed?

Today, deliveries are still good insured and authorized respecting the criteria of social distance of one to two meters between the delivery person and the beneficiary. It is however more complicated on the side of the withdrawal points because the majority are closed. La Poste, however, claims to be mobilized to "ensure the continuity of its public service missions, in particular mail, parcels and the press, while preserving the health of its customers and postal workers". A new device has also been put in place to allow delivery of the package without any contact. Now, the delivery man sends an SMS to the recipient saying:

"Hello, I am your postman, I have this object (photo in sms) to give you against signature. As part of the prevention policy against Covid-19, I suggest you drop it in your mailbox or outside your door as soon as you receive this SMS, I need your agreement by return SMS. Without your consent, the object will be pending. You will find a calling card in your mailbox. Thank you for your understanding, your factor. "

Can packages be contaminated?

The coronavirus is unfortunately tenacious and can survive for several days on certain surfaces. On the cardboard, the persistence of the virus would be 24 hours, 3 days on plastic, 4 days on wood and steel and 5 days on glass. To avoid being contaminated upon receipt of the package, some precautions are necessary:

  • Try to open the package outside
  • Wash your hand well after opening the package
  • Get rid of the package as quickly as possible
  • Wash ordered clothing before wearing
