Can you still do that? Botox, lasers and the like in times of body positivity

Can you still say that out loud in times of body positivity, i.e. with the botox and the laser and that you might also like to have your breasts made and still want to look completely natural? A tight abdominal wall would also be nice after two pregnancies and the hanging cheeks could perhaps be pulled back a little and tucked behind the ears. Okay, an all-round renewal is out of the question for me, a bit of botox to paralyze the frown lines and the laser of annoying hairs is.

Do I have to feel bad now? Because self love and stuff?

Yes, I love myself very much, mostly at least. But some things about me just don't bother me. And since it is my body, my wrinkles and my hair that I put on my skin, nobody has to judge that. I want to feel good regardless of other people's ratings. When I was a teenager there was no body positivity, you were either as thin and beautiful as the women on posters, posters and on TV, or you weren't. But at the end of 30 I no longer measure myself against them. I find myself okay in my body, with a few exceptions that everyone knows and I don't want to have every one of them away, especially if that would mean a major operation. Lasering the bikini area and smoothing the frown line, on the other hand, I had wanted to try out for a long time. The good thing is that lasers and botox have already reached the price segment of ordinary people. And not only that, their reputation is also changing. Nothing more with petrified creepy faces à la Hollywood. On the contrary: less is more, here too is the motto.

Very hairy?

Yes, I am vain and Botox is definitely depositing into this account. Lasers, on the other hand, also have a very practical component: ingrown hair, inflammation and pimples are a thing of the past. From waxing to epilation and hair removal creams, I went through all of the methods. Nothing could convince me and no, growing is not an option for me, no matter how feminist I want to be. So the laser had to go. So far, however, it was mainly the prices for the treatment that prevented me from doing so. But with the great beauty specialist M1 Laser, for example, hair removal at € 60 per treatment does not cost much more than a round of waxing. It takes a total of six to eight appointments for the hair roots to be destroyed so that they do not come back, and hopefully I will finally have some rest.

Old wrinkle?

The situation is similar with botox. While it was expensive and infamous just a few years ago, not only everyone can now afford a dose, but the reputation of botox, hyaluronic acid and the like is different. Nothing more with petrified facial features. Rather, modern aesthetic surgery is about emphasizing the chocolate sides and letting minor irregularities fade into the background without you seeing it right away. And with this idea, I am in the experienced hands of Dr. Bülent Ugurlu from Docboom. Instead of a sterile doctor atmosphere there is a feel-good charm and it quickly becomes clear that there is no lack of competence, he explains to me what we can do, what he recommends to me, how it works and finally attaches the needle. The procedure only takes a few minutes and, contrary to expectations, does not really hurt. It takes about two weeks to get the final result. Today, about six weeks later, it feels good and normal.

Botox and body neutrality are clear

And before everyone cries out in horror again: "How can she do something like that? What kind of role model is that? And anyway, she only runs after the gender image", briefly. A woman should be eel smooth, without dents and wrinkles. This has been done by society for so long that it is now only black or white. Either I accept myself the way I am, with all my hair and wrinkles, or I am not at ease with myself, I want to match the image of others and therefore I lay under the knife, the laser or the syringe. There is no such variant that one does not have to exclude the other, but there are very many people who rise above it and tell others how to love themselves and how not. The fact that we also have crooked teeth corrected, hair dyed, sail ears put on and that everything is completely normal is hardly an issue. What helps thinking against black and white? For example, just let body be body and allow everyone to decide for themselves what they do with it instead of evaluating everything. #bodyneutrality
