This place of vice-world champion is unknown. If, unsurprisingly, China is ranked the most advanced country in the field of electric batteries by Bloomberg NEF, Canada comes in second place. Followed by USA, Finland, Norway and Germany. France is ranked 11e.
The Bloomberg NEF ranking is not without subtleties. The organization takes into account several criteria for each country: access to essential raw materials in the battery sector, production capacities, good environmental governance, innovation capacities and country infrastructures. If China is number one for certain criteria for the third consecutive year, it is only 9e for innovation and 17e for the respect of the environment. Despite Canada’s progress, the Middle Kingdom still concentrates more than 75% of the production capacity of electric batteries in the world, and 90% of anodes and electrolytes.
