Canadian National Railway workers threaten to strike

The company said it had received a strike notice from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), with 72 hours’ notice.

The Montreal-based train service provider said it remains positive about reaching an agreement with the union, adding that it will continue to negotiate with the union in good faith.

The company has also proposed to resolve the remaining differences, which primarily relate to wages and benefits, through binding arbitration.

Canadian National Railway Company faced a major eight-day strike by railway workers in 2019.
