Canadian Red Cross raises funds in response to Typhoon Rai (Odette) in the Philippines


OTTAWA, Dec. 21 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – The Canadian Red Cross launched the relief fund “Typhoon Rai (Odette) in the Philippines ” to help those hard hit by the devastating storm that made landfall in the region on December 16, 2021. Known locally as Odette, Typhoon Rai resulted in severe flooding and landslides as well as the forced displacement of hundreds thousands of people.

Donations made to the Canadian Red Cross will be used to meet the immediate needs of disaster victims, support relief efforts, foster long-term recovery, build resilience as well as prepare the Philippines and regions affected surrounding areas, including neighboring countries, to emergencies. The aid provided and the regions in which the interventions will take place may change depending on emerging needs and possible disasters.
