Canal+ launches “grandstand mode”, a new feature for football fans

Would you like to be able to watch football on Canal+ in a more immersive way, without journalist comments? Your wish will be granted this Wednesday, April 24 on the encrypted channel and its myCanal streaming platform. The group will in fact offer a “stand mode” during the Everton-Liverpool match in the Premier League.

Stadium atmosphere at home

Goodbye match commentators, you will now be able to activate a new function on Canal+ which promises, as shown in the video below, to remove the comments to leave supporters with only the sound of the stadium and thus give the impression of ‘be there.

Grandstand mode.

To access this “grandstand mode,” simply go to the audio settings of the channel (or the myCanal platform) and select this function. As reported by our colleagues from The Teamthis mode was already tested last weekend on Foot+.

Note, a similar functionality already exists at beIN Sports and on Prime Video. On Amazon’s streaming platform, it is called “Stadium FX” and was set up as soon as Ligue 1 arrived on the SVOD service.

But if on Prime Video this immersive mode can also be applied to Roland-Garros matches, we do not yet know if the “grandstands” function of Canal+ will be extended to its entire football offering or to other sports broadcast on the chain.

Anyway, if you want to experience football as if you were at the stadium, tune in tomorrow at 9 p.m. on Canal+ and myCanal for the Everton-Liverpool Premier League match.
